Ouvir o som dos dois grandes órgãos da Catedral de Braga é já uma tradição na abertura do Festival Internacional de Órgão. Nesta 11.ª edição é convidado o organista titular da Catedral de Colónia (Alemanha), Winfried Bönig, considerado pela crítica com um dos mais criativos e talentosos expoentes da música de órgão, e que estará acompanhado por Alexander Niehues, também ele um destro organista da nova geração. No programa, e nos mais de 3500 tubos dos órgãos da Sé de Braga, vão ser interpretadas obras para dois órgãos de compositores alemães e ainda a estreia de uma “Batalha” composta especialmente para este concerto.

Numa edição dedicada aos “sopros” também haverá lugar para ouvir trompetes, trombones e clarinete, acompanhados pelos órgãos, na interpretação de Vítor Matos, David Silva, Vasco Faria e Bruno Almeida, docentes e solistas da Universidade do Minho.

Hearing the sound of the two large organs of Braga Cathedral is already a tradition at the opening of the International Organ Festival. In this 11th edition, the main organist of the Cologne Cathedral (Germany), Winfried Bönig, considered by critics as one of the most creative and talented exponents of organ music, is invited, and will be accompanied by Alexander Niehues, also a dexterous organist of the new generation. In the program, and in the more than 3500 pipes of the Braga Cathedral's organs, works will be performed for two organs by German composers and the premiere of a “Battle” composed especially for this concert.

In an edition dedicated to “winds”, there will also be room to hear trumpets, trombones and clarinet, accompanied by organs, performed by Vítor Matos, David Silva, Vasco Faria and Bruno Almeida, teachers and soloists from the University of Minho.
